The History
Wednesday, 07 March 2012 14:33

It seems like yesterday, when we started developing a small freeware rendering application with a very weird name, a pure invention, Kerkythea. The renderer back at that time was rather simple with respect to the interface and it was mainly a photon mapping based renderer. Even with this - rather primitive - form though, it has strong supporters and the renderer is embraced by SketchUp community. Slowly, the "team" is also assembled with all members joining early on.

After the initial version, continuous work is made on the user interface as well as introducing new unbiased render modes, Bidirectional Path Tracing and Metropolis Light Transport, making Kerkythea 2008 one of the most successful rendering products. All this time though, the software is developed on a part time basis.

Being passionate with rendering, we decided to follow our "heart" and enter the commercial render world. This time, with a new commercial product Thea Render that was written from scratch with an intense research and development period between 2008 and 2010.  On March 2010 the first public beta of Thea is out, a high end solution with advanced material system and many innovative features.

And here we are, in the beginning of 2012, after almost two years, we continue to add new innovations into a renderer that grows day by day. We invite you to take a look at our rendering solutions and we will be happy hearing from you.
